What are holes notes?

You can now add hole notes for your course to communicate OB, Mandos, and more right on the scorecard. Hole notes are a great way to alert players of specific rules that may be in play on your course. Any notes added will display in scorecards that are playing a Smart Layout. Classic Layouts will not display hole notes.

How do I add hole notes?

In order to add hole notes, go to Map Manager and navigate to a hole and choose the edit option (pencil). There will now be a section for ‘Notes’ where you can add instructions that apply to this specific pathway. We recommend you add notes at the Map Manager level so that every layout that includes that hole will display that information.

You are also able to create notes at the Pathway level that may be helpful if multiple pathways exist on one hole. Similar to above, to add notes tap the edit option (pencil), then navigate to the Notes section.

Path Notes only apply for the specific pathway on that hole, not the entire hole.

If you are creating a specialty layout that has different hole notes, you can override the Map Manager notes within a specific layout. This is especially helpful for league or event layouts with specific rules that don't typically apply. To set a note, tap Set a note for this hole... then use the Override Notes for this Hole section to create your notes.

What type of notes should I add?

We suggest adding player-friendly notes that are easily deciphered by any level of player. An example could include, "Pathway and beyond OB", or "Double Mando marked by red arrows at first two trees; missed Mando played from drop zone (DZ) with one stroke penalty."

Hole notes should not include an profanity or inappropriate language. Notes that direct players to play the hole a specific way, e.g. "Best to throw a RHBH with a mid-range" should also not be included. Hole notes are meant to clarify any rules that all players should be aware of when playing a course.

My holes notes are not displaying in the layout, what should I do?

Any changes to Smart Layouts or Map Manager that include hole notes, will come to our team for approval. Approval can take 24 - 48 hours, though we do hope to get this done sooner! If your changes have not been approved, they will not display in the layout until approved.

If your changes have been approved and you're still not seeing hole notes populate, check to make sure the layout is displaying as a Smart Layout. If you have added hole notes to your Map Manager but you have not created Smart Layouts, holes notes will not appear. Holes notes are only displayed in Smart Layouts.
