What are automated target changes?

Course Ambassadors take on a lot, from moving physical baskets to updating layouts in UDisc. Now, with automated target changes UDisc bots can lend a helping hand! When players at the Course are playing a layout and notice a target has not been updated in UDisc, they have the ability to use the orange “change” button to select the target (or tee) to which they are playing. After enough players have reported the same target change, UDisc bots will update the target and send you an email notification.

This tool is meant as a fail-safe to ensure that when things get busy for you, targets are still being updated within the app! You know your course best, so please make sure to update and review your Quick Targets anytime you make a target position change on the course.

Not sure what Quick Targets are? Check out this article for a brief overview.

Why aren’t my targets changing?

Target changes are linked to Quick Targets. If all is set up correctly within Map Manager and Smart Layouts, (including having selected the target type not target position within your Smart Layouts), then targets should be updated once enough players have reported the same change.

If you’d like to dig deeper into when the last change was made, please review your Change Log within the Advanced tab of your Course Tools.

What is target change sensitivity?

Each course is unique in it’s frequency of play and target set up. The target change sensitivity tool in the Advanced section of your Course Tools allows you to update the sensitivity of target changes to meet these needs. The sensitivity ranges are:

  • Low: more players will need to update the target position prior to automated target changes occurring.

    • This might be helpful for courses that are played frequently by players of all levels.

  • High: fewer players will need to update the target position prior to automated target changes occurring.

    • This might be helpful for courses that are played less frequently or have multiple active targets.

For most courses, medium (the preset setting) is best and there shouldn’t be a need to update target change sensitivity. Let’s be honest, you’re already the super star Course Ambassador that you are and don’t need UDisc to change these targets for you. But, we’ve got your back when life gets in the way!
